Golden State vs Cleveland Game 4 Preview

So much for another epic rematch. The Warriors have owned the Cavaliers throughout this NBA Finals and are approaching "all-time great" status after already setting several playoffs records including being the first and only team to go 15-0 in the postseason. Steph Curry has been hot, Klay Thompson has caught fire but the main man has been Kevin Durant who outclassed LeBron James in game 3's fourth period as he hit the game-clinching shot. Things look bleak for the Cavs as they hope to at least avoid the sweep and be the first team this postseason to defeat the Warriors.

      POINT SPREAD MONEYLINE OVER/UNDER
    Cleveland  +6.5 (-110)  +185  o228.5 (-110)
    Golden State  -6.5 (-110)  -230  u228.5 (-110)

The Warriors are on the cusp of history as they look to sweep the Cavaliers at home following a come-from-behind win in game 3. Durant is looking like the Finals MVP averaging 34 points per game to go with 10.3 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and only two turnovers in the last three contests. He's also shooting a scintillating 56.1% and 52.4% from deep. Never before has dominance like this been seen since the days of Shaquille O'Neal and Michael Jordan.

Most importantly, Durant has outperformed James in the fourth period having scored a total of 31 points on 10 for 15 shooting against James's 11 points on 4 for 11. KD drew the ire of NBA fans everywhere with his decision to leave his OKC Thunder to join the Warriors' budding dynasty but he's making the most of his opportunity by putting on the best performance of his career. He and the Warriors look to seal the deal against the Cavs unless James and co. find a way to cool him off.

The Cavaliers may be over. Game 3 was a deflating loss as they gave up the lead late in the fourth as James wasn't even able to complete his potential game-tying three-pointer when he got stuffed and stepped out of bounds. James finds himself in a similar spot from 2014 when his Miami Heat was ran over by the Spurs 4-1 after narrowly beating them the year before. James will have to dig deep to push the rest of his squad to at least win one for the fans.

    Warriors at Cavaliers Online Betting

At +185, the Cavaliers look like a live underdog bet. They had the Warriors on the ropes until Durant took over. But going down 0-3 in a series has a demoralizing effect on NBA teams and no team in all 129 playoff series has ever come back from that. There is always hope but the Cavs will have to find the hunger they had last season to overcome this. However, even if they shut Durant down (unlikely), they still have to contend with the equally deadly Splash Bros.

If there isn't any value to the money line, there are other methods to betting the NBA like the point spread and the totals (over/under). The best sportsbooks all offer all three options and should become staples in your betting arsenal. The point spread assigns points for each team to "cover".

In this case, it's 6.5 and the favourite (Warriors -6.5) needs to win by over 6.5 points because that is deducted from their finals score while the underdog (Cavaliers +6.5) have up to that much to lose because it is added.

The way these playoffs have been going, the Warriors have beaten their spreads and at 6.5 there's a good chance they beat it again thanks to their hot shooting. Alternatively, betting totals can also be a lucrative option as you simply bet whether the bookie's assigned total (228.5 for this game) will be over or under the actual combined final score. The under cashed in game 1 but game 2 and 3 went over. With the streaky shooting likely to continue, the over might be a better play.

A signup bonus of up to $200 in cash can help new bettors get their feet wet as they try betting on the NBA. The season is wrapping up but off-season betting for the NBA continues with prop bets/futures (i.e. long term predictions on NBA teams' futures). These same prop bets can be used to adjust the point spreads and totals. Diligent research and instinct go a long way in winning but you'll also need plenty of experience and you can only get that through betting.
