Sports Interaction NBA Futures Betting Lines Picks for 2018

    2017-18 NBA Championship - Outright

I’m basing my NBA future bets less on regular season accomplishments and standings (Sorry, Detroit Pistons), and more on whose team, at full strength, is built for the grind of the NBA Playoffs. The Warriors have proven they can do it and nearly go undefeated doing it. But I agree with Richard Jefferson who said that Golden State could have easily lost two of the swing games in the finals last year. So let’s take a look at how the oddsmakers see things, versus how I see things.

    Golden State Warriors (1.55) Pick'EM

Talent. Experience. Depth. This team is just really scary… at one end of the floor anyways. This is the most offensively explosive team of the 21st century. However, defensively, they’re good-to-meh. The way they play means a high paced game, and if they’re not hitting, you’re going to get a lot of chances to get back into the game. But when they are hitting, you’re doomed.

This team is the undisputed champion of punishing mistakes. Turnovers and missed shots become 3s and dunks and they feed off of their own momentum until it feels like a video game where player 2 has left. But when this team is down, they quit. That’s why so many of their losses are by double digits. So they’re vulnerable.

    Cleveland Cavaliers (7.00) Pick'EM

This is a team in flux, with a lot of potential.

In theory, The Cavs have a deeper team than Golden State. But, what will Isaiah Thomas bring? The scrappy scoring machine who can take Kyrie or Steph out of the game by making them guard him. Or will he be a disruptive ball hog who never seems to find his rhythm?

You look at the entire team besides #23 and the whole roster is capable of taking over a game, or disappearing quietly into the background. D-Wade and D-Rose being the epitome of that. Either healthy man can give you 30 points that remind you of why they’re famous. Or you won’t even be sure if they played that night until you look at the boxscore.

They’re the favorites, but the East is far from theirs.

    Toronto Raptors (46.00) Pick'EM

I gotta say, ranking this low in the eyes of the oddsmakers is a bit of a slap in the face to the roster. Toronto survived an early jackass of a schedule to keep the ship afloat. I like this team’s make up. Toronto has got serious talent at every position, and more depth (young depth too) than we’ve seemingly had in years. CJ Miles seems to be the bench guy we always wanted Terrence Ross to be.

Can they beat Golden State? They should have beat Golden State in the first week of the season, as Klay Thompson got away with mugging Lowrey at the end of the game. And yes, I’m still bitter. But that was the first week of the season and really only slightly more meaningful than preseason.

This team still has a mental block when they see Lebron, but this is the best chance they’re ever going to have in beating him.

    Boston Celtics (11.00) Pick'EM

The Celtics are off to a historic start, even after the devastating injury to Haywood. But this is all just regular season success. I’m not going to lie to you, I would bet on Toronto in a 7 game series.

Is Boston talented? Crazy talented. But it’s young and unproven talent. Besides their legit MVP candidate in Kyrie, most of this team is full of inexperienced talent that has yet to be really tested. Jayson Tatum has been forced into on-the-job training and looked oddly poised. And Jaylen Brown is the most improved player. But Tatum will hit the rookie wall, and I can’t see either of those guys being a factor in the playoffs.
