Washington Capitals vs Toronto Maple Leafs 2017 NHL Playoff Betting Picks

    My Team's Next Match

Toronto returns to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season and for only the second time in the last decade. Leafs fans everywhere rejoice but it may be short-lived as the Leafs draw the regular season's best team, the Washington Capitals. Under the guidance of Mike Babcock, the young Leafs led by rookie sensations like Auston Matthews and Mitchell Marner, will hope to upset the star-studded Caps led by six-time goalscoring champion, Alexander Ovechkin and the impenetrable Braden Holtby as they continue the hunt for the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

It might finally be the year the Capitals win it all or it might yet be another disappointment. Despite their stacked lineup, the team has yet to make it out of the second round. With several key players like defensemen Karl Alzner and Kevin Shattenkirk and forwards T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams set to become unrestricted free agents, the time is ripe for the Caps to get going. Ranked in the top-five in most major statistical categories and with the best defense/goalie combination in franchise history, it's Stanley Cup or bust.

Even most Leafs fans didn't expect it but they did it! The Leafs are back playing spring hockey. First overall pick Auston Matthews was everything he was advertised to be: an explosive goal scorer, and paired with other rookie standouts Mitchell Marner and William Nylander. the trio combined to record 191 points. The Leafs play a high-paced offensive style finishing as a top-five offense. Their defense led by Jake Gardiner will need to step up big time with goaltender Frederik Andersen if they are to keep the Caps from outscoring them.

Washington vs Toronto Game 6 Prediction

The Capitals won their third Presidents Trophy as the league leader in points with 118. They also achieved their fourth season with over 50 wins since drafting "The Great Eight", who despite struggling, became just the third player to have 12 straight seasons of scoring at least 30 goals with 33, tying T.J. Oshie for the team-lead. The Leafs will match firepower with the Caps with their rookie trio of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander, who all scored 60+ points becoming only the second rookie trio to do so in NHL history.

Prediction: Toronto Maple Leafs (+180) at Sports Interaction.

The Caps took back home ice advantage by beating the Leafs in over time. It was the fifth straight game decided by a goal and the fourth game to end in overtime. Despite the closeness of the score, the Caps thoroughly outplayed the Leafs looking more like the team everyone expected. They literally beat the Leafs in every major statistical category.

But there is something to these Leafs. They don't quit and their aggressive fast-paced style has been giving the Caps fits. Game 6 will be another one-goal game but the desperado Leafs will be more assertive and edge the Caps to survive.

    NHL Playoff Picks Tonight

Like the Leafs, the Senators (+145) took a loss in Friday's game after giving up a 2-0 lead to lose in overtime. The Sens had a chance to close out the Bruins but couldn't put in the clinching goal. They'll return to Boston looking to complete the job at 3:00 PM ET as the Leafs and Capitals round out the day with the usual 7:00 PM ET start.

Star players Erik Karlsson and Bobby Ryan combined for the game's only goal in the third as goalie Craig Anderson came up with his best effort to shut Boston out.

The Canadian teams are serious about winning it all and Sports Interaction is giving away a signup bonus of up to $200 so fans can put their money where their faith in their team is.
