Grey Cup Odds 2019: Bet on Tiger-Cats To Edge the Bombers

We are down to our final two CFL teams in the Grey Cup Finals and we have the full Grey Cup Odds of 2019

    • Hamilton Tiger-Cats - 1.55
    • Winnipeg Bombers - 2.45

Hamilton is once again favourites to end their 20-year drought while the underdog kings, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will look to make it three straight upsets. They are also hungry in snapping their 29-year drought.

Let's break down the CFL Grey Cup Odds

Grey Cup Odds 2019 - Betting Facts:

    • The team with the best regular season record has won the Grey Cup in three of the last five seasons
    • Winnipeg has the longest Grey Cup drought at 29 seasons
    • Hamilton has lost four of its last five Grey Cup games
    • Winnipeg has lost all of its last five Grey Gup games
    • The betting favourite has won three of the last five Grey Cup games

Grey Cup Odds: Hamilton vs Winnipeg Preview

Let's take a quick look at our two Grey Cup finalists including their Grey Cup odds:

    Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1.55)

Hamilton is a significant favourite for a good reason: they're just so damn good. They manhandled the Eskimos, a team that had a proven quarterback and a solid defense. Yes, they had home turf advantage. But they are also 6-3 on the road, by far the best in the league.

The strength of the team lies in their defense. The Tiger-Cats have the best passing defense led by their secondary.

They have limited opposing quarterbacks to a 79.9 rating and 61.9 completion percentage, both league lows. Simoni Lawrence and their linebackers are also up to the task in snuffing the run, which will be key against Winnipeg.

On offense, the Tiger-Cats will have Dane Evans under center. While not that explosive, Evans has risen to the occasion and made key plays on a consistent level. Of course, wide receiver Brandon Banks has been a monster this season and will carry this team's passing game along with Bralon Addison.

    Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2.45)

The Bombers will not be fazed by being an underdog. They were underdogs against both Calgary and Saskatchewan and handled their business. Having Zach Collaros gives them an electric quarterback who diversifies their offense and helps the prolific Andrew Harris and the running game.

Harris is a future Hall of Famer and the best offensive Canadian in the league but always plays with a chip on his shoulder. He has been quiet this playoffs, but could just be a sleeping giant and will be ready to wreak havoc from anywhere on the field.

The defense are what anchor the Bombers. The defensive line led by Willie Jefferson will be a difference-maker. Jefferson has accumulated 16 pass knockdowns, 12 sacks, and six forced fumbles. Although Hamilton's offensive line is also stout, Jefferson is the type of playmaker to give Winnipeg that edge.

    Grey Cup 2019 Prediction

It's tempting to pick and bet on the Bombers as they have shown so far that they are chalk busters. But the Tiger-Cats have so much depth they will absorb any meltdowns from their team. Even if their passing or parts of their defense fail, they have many other playmakers to keep them going.

Hamilton will end their 20-year drought and win the 2019 Grey Cup.

CFL Grey Cup Odds 2019: Prop Bets Breakdown

Betting on the game's outcome isn't the only CFL Grey Cup odds in 2019 available. SportsInteraction (SIA) has a couple of prop bets worth looking at:

How long will it take to sing National Anthem - Under 1 minute and 10.5 seconds (1.83)

This bet only concerns the first bar to the last bar (when the singer is singing words); this is the average time the national anthem is sung and there's usually two ways this goes: the singer (yet to be named) either sings it the way it goes or adds a little pizzaz to it and takes longer.

It's also possible the singer, especially if he or she is young, gets nervous and rushes through the song. At these odds, take the under.

Coin toss winner wins game - Yes (1.83)

The coin toss winner has won three of the last five Grey Cups including two of the last three. Of course, this is completely arbitrary. Although it comes after winning the game, if the team that wins elects to play offense, it's a good sign and shows confidence.

As a totally random prop bet, there is no strategy to betting this. Dive into the history of coin toss winners to see if you can find a regression anywhere. Otherwise, bet "Yes" based on recent results.

What color Gatorade will be poured on the winning coach - Orange (4.00)

Clear/water has been poured on the winning coach on almost every other Grey Cup. Last year, clear/water was poured on Calgary coach Dave Dickenson. If the trend continues, we can fade clear/water from this list although feel free to hedge your bet with this.

It comes down to orange (4.00) or blue (5.00) as these colours have been used alternative to clear/water in the last dozen Grey Cups with a rare appearance from Lime/Green/Yellow (3.25).

Betting and Winning the CFL Grey Cup Odds

Betting and winning the CFL Grey Cup odds is simple but hard to pull off: you'll need a lot of guts to do it. You can try betting on the underdogs as they return a bigger payout and you only need to win a smaller amount of bets to profit. Betting on favourites is easier, but also riskier as you will be staking more cash.
