147th Belmont Stakes: Futures Odds Have American Pharoah as Top Chalk

Triple Crown Dream: So close yet so far in recent years

For the third time in four years, horse racing fans have a chance to witness history. American Pharoah has joined I’ll Have Another and California Chrome as the winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes in the same year. Injury prevented I’ll Have Another from starting the Belmont in 2012 and California Chrome ran 4th after sustaining a hoof injury in the Test of the Champion last year. Prior to that, Big Brown came up lame and did not finish in 2008 and Smarty Jones was caught at the wire by 36/1 longshot Birdstone during the 136th Belmont Stakes in 2004.

American Pharoah looks to successfully complete his path to horse racing immortality

While it’s true that we have had our collective Triple Crown dream dashed more than a few times recently, American Pharoah has the goods to make history during the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes. Though it doesn’t guarantee a winner, watching previous races, and listening to the call from the track, can provide a “tell” when it comes to “super-horses”. Frank Mirahmadi, one of our favorite race callers, summed it up best when he stated “that is one special horse” after American Pharoah crushed the field in the Arkansas Derby prior to capturing the Kentucky Derby.

Belmont Stakes Futures Wagering: Dating back to his destruction of the field in the Del Mar Futurity, as a 2-year old in September 2014, American Pharoah has now won six straight races. From post positions  - to track conditions, the Ruler of the Racetrack has answered every question with remarkable results. The lone remaining question is whether he can handle the 1½-mile marathon during the 2015 Test of the Champion at Big Sandy. The EVEN odds currently offered are as good as they are going to get so we are backing American Pharoah with a 300 unit futures wager. Triple Crown dreams can and will come true on June 6, 2015, at Belmont Park.
