Calgary vs Chicago: NHL Road Weary Flames Face Rested Blackhawks

Stanley Cup favorite Hawks are off to a good start

Posted as runaway chalk to claim the Stanley Cup this season, Chicago has jumped out of the gate with two straight wins. The Blackhawks earned a 3-2 SO victory on the road over Dallas in their season opener last Thursday and then returned home to bash Buffalo 6-2 on Saturday. After giving up 34 shots on goal versus the Stars, the Hawks battened down the hatches as they allowed the lowly Sabres a stingy 23 chances while peppering the Buffalo net with 47 shots. Eight days into the 2014-15 NHL campaign, and given that their last match was a home game, it's strange that Chicago has had three days off prior to this contest.

Rebuilding Calgary Flames face a rough season opening schedule

With a schedule that is mirror opposite to the Hawks, Calgary is playing their fifth game of the season and a fourth straight road contest tonight. Calgary opened their season with a 4-2 home loss to Vancouver before heading up the QE2 to pummel provincial rival Edmonton by a 5-2 count. Heading cross-continent, the Flames were totally outplayed in a 4-1 loss to the Blues on Saturday before earning a hard fought 3-2 SO win in Nashville last night. The Flames rebuild continues, and while we don't see them making the playoffs, there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. That said - Calgary will hit a roadblock in this battle. NHL Game Day Call: We surf over to online sportsbook for the wagering lines on this contest tonight. Despite being a lower echelon team for years, the Flames have been a tough out for Chicago recently as they've won two of the last three matches - al of which were decided by one goal. That said, this young Calgary team is in tough against a stacked Hawks squad here. Back the Windy City Crew with a 500 unit wager on the puck line price posted on the betting board.
