Edmonton Oilers vs Chicago Blackhawks NHL Odds and Prediction

Blackhawks aim for eighth win in nine tries versus Oilers

Following a couple days of rest, Chicago begins a six-game west coast road trip with a visit to the Alberta Capital tonight. The Blackhawks eleven-day journey also includes stops in Calgary and Vancouver before they head south for three contests in California. Chicago posted back-to-back wins during the weekend as they won 4-2 in St. Louis on Saturday night prior to cruising past Calgary 4-1 at home on Sunday. Sitting with a 10-7-1 record, the Hawks are fifth in the Central Division and currently own the second Wild Card playoff position in the Western Conference.

Edmonton Oilers: Struggling young guns are still searching for a spark to their season

Lots of promise, fueled by four #1 draft picks over the last six years, has panned out to extremely limited success in Edmonton. Another “this is our year” is fizzling out in the Alberta capital as the Oilers are 6-12-0 and now have sole control of the NHL cellar. Edmonton returns home following a four-game road trip that included a 4-2 loss to Chicago and a 4-3 OT win against Anaheim prior to dropping decisons to Arizona (4-1) and Los Angeles (4-3). To their credit, the young Oilers have been putting up decent efforts as five of their last seven losses have been by just one goal.

Edmonton vs Chicago NHL Prediction: Corey Crawford (8-5-1 GAA 2.40) facing Anders Nilsson (3-4-0) gives Chicago an edge in the goaltending duel here. The Blackhawks have posted a 7-1-0 record and they’ve outscored the Oilers by a 34-18 margin during their last eight meetings.
