Houston vs Oakland: Astros Send Out Their Ace Against the Athletics

Houston Astros: Young ‘Stros are an exciting team to watch

After six losing seasons, during which Houston posted a 382-590 record that included three years of at least 106 losses, the Astros patience is finally paying off. Loaded with young talent, with more on the way, Houston is 26-14 and they own the best record in the American League. After a 2-6 stumble in early May, the ‘Stros have won six of their last seven contests including a 6-4 win last night. Houston didn't get to 26 wins until June 5 last season and they were 26-35 by that point.

Oakland Athletics: Average pitching and shoddy defense is bringing down the A’s

One can only imagine where Oakland would be if it wasn’t for there fifth overall run scoring position as the Athletics have posted 184 runs. The problem is they sit 27th in runs allowed (190) and they lead the Majors with 43 errors over 41 games. Oakland won the opener of this set 2-1 on Monday but trail the season series by 3-5 count. The Athletics have won just two of their first twelve series – one against the Rangers and one versus the Astros - both in the Lone Star State.

Astros vs Athletics MLB Prediction: The pitching match-up favors Houston here as LHP Dallas Keuchel (5-0 ERA 1.87) faces RHP Jesse Hahn. Though he has stumbled some recently, allowing four runs in each of his last two starts, Keuchel has given up just 12 total runs on 37 hits over 57.2 innings and he has recorded 42 strikeouts. Oakland has lost Hahn’s last four starts and he’s allowed 19 runs (15 earned) over his last 21.2 innings pitched. Saddle up with the ‘Stros in the Lone Star State and a 500 unit wager on the money line odds posted at the William Hill online sportsbook.
