San Francisco Giants: 2010 World Champs not done
For the first time in MLB history, the last two World Series champions are meeting in the playoffs and the 2010 champs are not prepared to pack their bags and return home to their families just yet. Barry Zito threw 7.2 scoreless innings to keep the Giants alive and force a game six, where Ryan Vogelsong will take the ball for San Fran. Vogelsong threw seven innings of one-run ball in game two of the series for a win.
St. Louis Cardinals: A win returns 2011 Champions to Fall Classic
Lance Lynn could not get the celebration underway at home for the Cardinals in game five, allowing four runs in just 3.2 innings pitched Saturday night. Lynn has struggled in the postseason, pitching to a 4.91 ERA. St. Louis sends playoff veteran Chris Carpenter to the mound in the hopes of punching his team's ticket to the Fall Classic. Carpenter took a loss in game two of the series against Vogelsong.
With a trip to the World Series on the line, the Cardinals would love to end the NLCS in San Francisco before the series hits game seven. The Giants are relying on Ryan Vogelsong to prolong their season by replicating his performance from game two of the series.
