Following a red-hot 11-1-0 recent run, New York has dropped consecutive contests as they were crushed 5-1 by the Montreal Canadiens at home on Wednesday and then dropped a 4-3 decision to the Bruins in Boston yesterday. Sitting with a 16-5-2 overall record, the Rangers have a slim one point lead on the Washington Capitals in the race for first in the NHL Metropolitan Division. Playing back-to-back games has not been a problem for the Blueshirts as they are 5-0 in that scenario so far this season. The Rangers 70 goals scored is the sixth best total in the National Hockey League.
Philadelphia Flyers: Season long search for scoring punch on offense continues
Philadelphia rolls into the Big Apple after winning for just the fourth time during their last 16 contests. Sitting dead last in the NHL with 42 goals scored, a lack offense continues to be a huge problem in Philadelphia. The scoring drought in November has been particularly disturbing as the Flyers have posted a 4-6-3 record and have been outscored by a 36-21 margin this month. This is the second of four meetings this season between these long time NHL Eastern Conference rivals. The Flyers posted a 3-2 shootout win in the first contest back on October 24 in Philadelphia.
