Pittsburgh: Penguins are still soaring despite injuries

Pittsburgh is a deep hockey club and they have won eight of their last 12 games inspite of all the injuries. They have lost some ground but, sitting with a 18-6-2 record, the Pens are still well placed in fourth overall in the league and they have games in hand on the Ducks, Lightning and Red Wings who are above them.
New York Rangers: Have been in an early Christmas giving mood
Possibly the most healthiest team in the NHL right now, New York isn't taking advantage of their good fortune as they have just five regulation time wins in their last 16 contests. If NYR plans a repeat of their Stanley Cup Finals playoff run - they better start stringing together some wins. The Blueshirts (11-10-4) sit 11th overall in the Eastern Conference and five points behind the Leafs and Bruins for the two playoff Wild Card spots. The Ranger won the previous two meetings 5-0 at The Garden and 3-2 (OT) in Pittsburgh; a little extra motivation for Crosby, Malkin & Crew. New York has allowed four or more goals in six of their last nine losses.
