Vancouver vs Edmonton: Canucks and Oilers Clash in Alberta
Vancouver Canucks: Rested and ready for the Oilers
Though they are coming off a 5-0 crushing by the Arizona Coyotes, Vancouver has played well out of the gate so far this season. Overhauled from the front office down, the Canucks are 12-6-0 and sit just three points out of first place in the Western Conference. Previously rock solid over his career against the 'Yotes, Vancouver goalie Ryan Miller was a sieve on Saturday night as he allowed five goals on 23 shots. The last time Miller was mashed, a 6-3 loss to Dallas back on October 21, he rebounded with a 4-1 win over a tough St. Louis squad. We anticipate Miller and the Canucks will have a similar bounce-back performance tonight.
Edmonton Oilers: Wholesale changes can't be far off in Oil Country
Stumbling out of the starting gate with a 6-10-2 record, one can't help but wonder if big changes aren't on the horizon in Edmonton. In jeopardy of missing the NHL playoffs for a ninth straight season, Oilers owner Daryl Katz must be getting a little tired of his Kevin Lowe (President) and Craig MacTavish (General Manager) front office "Old Oilers" combo. He can't be too thrilled about head coach Dallas Eakins either as the Kevin Lowe hired gun has guided the Oilers to a 35-54-11 record over his first 100 games behind the bench. Edmonton is 2-6-1 over their last nine games, scoring just 18 goals over that stretch, and they sit last overall in the West.
Canucks vs Oilers Prediction: Truth be told, if you dig a little, there isn't a huge talent gap between these teams. There is however one area where the Canucks have an advantage tonight and that's between the pipes. Miller has owned the Oilers as he is 10-0 (1.79 GAA) during his career vs Edmonton - including a 3-0 mark since joining the Canucks. We like the short road favorite price posted on the betting board at SportsInteraction and we will wager 500 units on Vancouver earning a four straight win over Edmonton.
