Levi's Stadium

Super Bowl 50, live from San Francisco's Levi's Stadium, is coming up and sports bettors can't wait for the action to get underway from the Golden Gate City. One of the NFL's most storied teams, the 49ers came within a whisker of winning Super Bowl 2013. The Jim Harbaugh era, after failing to make the 2014 playoffs, came to a close on the back of three consecutive NFC Championship appearances.

San Francisco 49ers Stadium

The San Francisco 49ers had an excellent home record before moving to Levi’s Stadium, where they went 4-4 during their inaugural season. Between 2010 and 2014 at Candlestick Park, the 49ers former home ground, they earned a record of 24-7-1, which works out to a .750 winning percentage. Their combined home record at both stadiums, 28-11-1, over the last five years contrasts starkly with their mediocre 22-18 road record.

The seat prices at Levi’s Stadium reflect the cost of buying and renting properties around the Bay Area, which has priced some loyal fans, who attended games at Candlestick, out of the seats. This could have played a part in the 49ers lackluster 4-4 home record last season. Also, the new facility has several lounges, bars and restaurants that may draw fans away from the field.

Construction began on April 19th, 2012, with Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara opening just over two years later, on July 17th, 2014. The stadium is estimated to have cost $1.3 billion, most of which was funded through an $850 million loan from a three banks – Goldman Sachs, U.S. Bank and Bank of America. A loan from the NFL to the tune of $200 million was the other main funding source.

Lack of parking was a major issue in the construction of the new stadium. The city of Santa Clara had to use local golf and tennis clubs to secure enough parking spots for weeknight games and tailgating activities. In an attempt to gain more parking spots, the 49ers offered $15 million to eliminate the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park.

Levi's Stadium To Host Super Bowl 50

Levi’s Stadium, on February 7th, 2016, will host the second Super Bowl to take place without a roman numeral. Owners chose this facility over the Miami Dolphins home ground, Sun Life Stadium, to host this historic event. Completely outfitted with Wifi access, it was built with 400 miles of cabling, 1,200 access points and is the first stadium to carry 40 Gb/s of internet capacity. The modern, state-of-the-art, Wifi friendly stadium is meant to "enhance the in-venue experience". We have a feeling fans lucky enough to score a seat for Super Bolw 50 won't require any such enhancement.
