Online American League Central Betting

The AL Central was born when Major League Baseball expanded to six divisions in 1994. Taking teams from both the old AL East and AL West, new rivalries were quickly formed. While the spotlight is usually next door in the AL East, the Central produced some dominant teams and star players of its own. The Kansas City Royals are the most recent example dominating not only the Central but all of Major League Baseball these days.

How To Bet On American League Central

While the AL East leads the way in World Series appearances, the AL Central has shown itself to be the East’s equal in recent years  with the Royals and White Sox both winning titles and the Tigers coming up just short on a pair of occasions.

Whoever you wager on in the AL Central, the odds are usually provided by a money line. For example if the White Sox are favourites in a game against the Indians, the Sox will have a negative line and the underdog Indians will have a positive one. If Chicago is at -165 and Cleveland is at +165 you would have to wager $165 on the ChiSox to win $100 and $100 on the Tribe to win $165. Money lines are routinely used for action on single games and series wagers.

Much like rest of the AL, teams in the Central can hit the ball. Some of the best home run hitters of recent memory have called the AL Central home, but the division as also seen its share of top quality pitching. It’s mostly been of the starting variety, but as Kansas City has shown on its current run a fully loaded bullpen can also bring success. A look at who is on the mound is a good place to start when researching your wagers. A look at the temperature is also a good idea as Cleveland, Minneapolis and Detroit can have some nasty weather at the beginning and end of the season.
