The NL West houses some of Major League Baseball’s oldest franchises as well as some of its newest. While the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants rivalry hasn’t lost any of it’s bite since the two teams moved to California from New York in the late-50’s, the division also has seen the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks begin to leave their mark on the game in their short histories. Although the lead the way in division titles, and are the division’s current top dogs, the Dodgers are the only team in the NL West yet to make the World Series since it’s 1994 re-alignment.

How To Bet On National League West

While some of the league’s best hitters have had monster seasons plying their trades in the NL West, the division is known more for its pitching. The Giants and Diamondbacks have both loaded up their pitching staffs to win the World Series while the Dodgers current divisional dominance is due largely to the one-two punch of Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke. With Greinke now in Arizona look for the D-Backs to try and replicate their glory days when Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling ruled the roost.

Whoever you wager on in the NL West, the odds are usually provided by a money line. For example if the Dodgers are favourites in a game against the San Diego Padres, the Dodgers will have a negative line and the underdog Padres will have a positive one. If Los Angeles is at -180 and San Diego is at +180 you would have to wager $180 on LA to win $100 and $100 on San Diego to win $180. Money lines are routinely used for action on single games and series wagers.

The action goes late in the NL West. With some of the pitching matchups and the award winning talent at the plate and in the field there is plenty of opportunities to place your wager. The Giants have both a recent Cy Young Award winner (Tim Lincecum) and MVP (Buster Posey) while the Dodgers have Clayton Kershaw who won both awards in the same season. With Madison Bumgarner and the aforementioned Greinke plying their trade on the mound a look at who’s starting each night is a must when researching your wagers.
