Joining the league in 2012, the Montreal Impact are the third Canadian team and nineteenth overall franchise in MLS history. Playing in Saputo Stadium the Impact regularly draw a great crowd and often fill the 20,000 stadium. Built specifically for soccer, Montreal fans fill the place with a high level of energy and have been awarded with the franchises ability to produce a playoff calibre team after only 4 years.

Combined with the strong Canadian content on the team and Montreal has a great soccer culture – even though the Impact have only been around since 2012. On special occasions – when the demand is there – the Impact will play in Olympic Stadium where they can fit over 60,000 fans.   

The biggest rival of the Montreal Impact is the Toronto FC. The two large Canadians city have rivalries across many other sports and rapidly adopted a hatred for each other clubs. Dubbed the 401 Derby, Toronto leads the all-time series in the regular season but the Impact are 1-0 against Toronto in the playoffs – ousting them 3-0 in the knockout round in 2015.

The Impact having a growing rivalry with the Columbus Crew. The two team met in the 2015 playoffs were the teams split their two matches, but the Crew won on aggregate goals 4-3.
