The AL East is where the American League’s stars shine brightest. The division is home to North America’s most successful team; the New York Yankees and their 27 World Series titles, as well as their bitter rivals the Boston Red Sox (winners of multiple World Series In recent years in their own right). Even when these two powerhouses suffer a dip in form, the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays all jockey for position to pick up the slack… The stakes are always high in the AL East!

AL East Standings

The Yankees and Red Sox regularly find themselves at the top of the AL East standings, but recent years have seen the other three teams enjoy the spoils as well. Those spoils usually mean a spot in the postseason. Since Major League Baseball expanded the playoffs in the mid-90’s the AL East leads the way with most wild card teams. How To Bet On American League East

Besides wild card success, the division also leads the way in World Series appearances since MLB went to six divisions. While the Yankees and Red Sox rivalry dominates the conversation across the AL East, there have been resurgences in both the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays recently. You can also never count out the Tampa Bay Rays who regularly put together a collection of young talent on a shoestring budget that can spring a few surprises.

Whoever you wager on in the AL East, the odds are usually provided by a money line. For example if the Red Sox are favourites in a game against the Rays, the Sox will have a negative line and the underdog Rays will have a positive one. If Boston is at -180 and Tampa Bay is at +180 you would have to wager $180 on the BoSox to win $100 and $100 on the Rays to win $180. Money lines are routinely used for action on single games and series wagers.

Given the American League’s reputation for offence, it’s no surprise to see plenty of big bats in the AL East lineups. The Yankees don’t always lead the division in wins, but they usually lead the way in spending, loading up on sluggers, but the arms race in the division is also on the mound as each team looks to load up on quality pitching to shut down those big bats. A look at the pitching matchup and who’s swinging the hot bat are always requirements when wagering in the AL East.
