The Western Conference in the NBA is widely regarded as the better and much deeper conference in the league and it’s tough to argue. The West has a team like the San Antonio Spurs who have been championship contenders every year with Gregg Popovich at the helm; winning five titles since 1999. The Spurs have forced others like Oklahoma City, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers (in the late 2000’s) and now the Golden State Warriors to step up their own programs. [+]

How To Bet On NBA Western Conference

The Warriors might be the toast of the West in the mainstream media with all the win records they've set, but bettors know that they're also one of the best teams to back against the spread in the Western Conference. Golden State's 73-9 straight up (SU) record breaking season in 2015-16 was spectacular, but they also finished with the best against the spread (ATS) record at 45-35-2 during that run. Quite an impressive betting feat considering the Warriors were always posted as lofty favorites in nearly every game, routinely covering double digit spreads at home.

San Antonio is always going to be a team to watch as they can pile up wins with the best of them and finished with a 44-38 ATS record themselves in 2015-16. That record was tied with Portland for third best in the Western Conference, as Dallas at 45-36-1 ATS was sandwiched between those two teams and Golden State.

Aside from the big dogs like the Warriors and Spurs, there are a couple Western Conference teams bettors should be keen to watch in the coming years.

Minnesota is loaded with young talent led by Andrew Wiggins and while they have gone through plenty of growing pains in Wiggins first two years, they did finish with a 39-42-1 ATS record in 15-16 and are knocking on the door to success as we speak.

Then there is the L.A Lakers who have been dreadful of late. but have the money to buy themselves back into contenders at any time. The Kobe Bryant era is officially over in L.A, but the new crop of Lakers will be back competing for NBA titles before you know it.
