The gap between the East and Western divisions is only getting wider. Seriously, this is absurd. The entire East is below .500 and the entire west has a record of at least .500 or better. The West’s Roughriders are 4-4 and the last place in their division, but that would be good enough for first place overall in the East.

Things are getting very interesting as the playoff picture starts to come into focus. We have a new league leader, as the suddenly-struggling Eskimos dropped a second straight game, and the suddenly-surging Calgary Stampeders are in control. Let’s take a look at this weekend’s action.

What’s this about the Redblacks suddenly being the beasts out East? But they started 1-6-1? It’s funny. Back-to-back wins have made them the only team out east with a winning streak and has them suddenly eyeing first place. They are also the only team in the East right now to have scored more points than they’ve given up.

Meanwhile, Montreal is on a two game slide, after botching a shot at first place in the East 2 weeks ago. They’re certainly not out of the running by any means, but they’re at home with a really tough schedule coming up.

This is a surprisingly huge game out East. Montreal will win, in a thriller.

Prediction: Montreal Alouettes at +1 (-111) at Sports Interaction

Lots of big ass games this weekend, and this is probably the best. Winny is on fire right now. After a loss to the Lions, they’ve reeled off 5 wins in a row, with some impressive road wins in there. I think they’re the team to beat in the CFL right now.

Meanwhile, The Riders have won two in a row, and handed the formerly undefeated Eskimos the ass-kicking of the season last weekend, by scoring at least 12 points in all 4 quarters in Edmonton’s home building. They’re feeling really good right now and returning to their home field.

I like the Riders in this one, in another really fun game to watch.

Prediction: Saskatchewan Roughriders EV (-111) at Sports Interaction

Now here are two teams heading in completely different directions. I actually love the added storyline that the Eskimos are now struggling, after starting off undefeated. The Stamps just stole the lead in the West last week, so this weekend it’s on them to defend it. To add to the drama, these two teams are about to play a home-and-home series.

How good is this Edmonton team, really? They’re winning start was mainly against weaker teams from the east. Whereas you could argue that Calgary has had the tougher schedule.

It’s terribly unimaginative, but I’m taking the home team in each half of this series. So Calgary wins this weekend.

Prediction: Calgary Stampeders -11 (110) at Sports Interaction

This may not exactly be the most illustrious matchup this weekend, but it probably does provide the most storylines. On the one hand, you have the most visible team in the CFL in Toronto. Struggling to find respectability and a winning record. And the leaders out east, by default.

Meanwhile, you have the Hamilton Tiger cats, completely embroiled in scandal right now. Which is actually pretty rare for a CFL team. Earlier this week, they fired their controversial head coach, Art Briles, and the owner made a public statement saying that hiring him was the wrong move. I guess they assumed that winning would cure all, and everybody would forget about the disgraced former-Baylor coach's sexual assault allegations. But that didn't happen. And earlier in the week, they had a work out with disgraced former NFL quarterback, Johnny Manzeil. Yeah. Signing him probably would've been the wrong move right now.

It’s possible that Hamilton has no choice but to rally together as a team and overcome this. But that won’t happen. Toronto wins on the road.

Prediction: Toronto Argos -2 (-111) at Sports Interaction
