The CFL season is already in peak form and it's just the third week. But the last two weeks have truly showed what is best about the league: scintillating comebacks, explosive passing offenses, and underdogs stealing the show. Through eight games, six underdogs have covered the spread, including all four in the first week. Should this trend continue, we're in for more surprises as teams warm up and the contenders will soon separate themselves from the pretenders. Whatever the results, expect more fourth-quarter heroics from both the favourites and underdogs.

It's a long season but based on the last two weeks, it's more profitable to bet on the underdogs than the favourites. Simply betting on underdogs is folly and this week, all four favourites could sweep. But the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at +140 are the dogs to pick this week. The Bombers edged their archnemeses, the Roughriders last week and look to upset the Stampeders whose defense has looked more human than seasons past. Alternatively, take the Bombers to beat their +3.5 spread or just bet them straight for the extra profit.
Give credit where it's due. The Lions overcame a spirited effort from the Argonauts to win 28-15 thanks to an 18-point fourth-period explosion. The Alouettes, on the other hand, let go of an early lead against the Eskimos and lost 19-23. The Lions can use the fourth-period momentum and edge the Als although the Montreal defense will again make things hard. It will be up to Darian Durant and the offense to match the Lions. While they can do it, the Lions' gifted offense will be too much to hold off.

The Stampeders' once-mighty defense has struggled, allowing the second-most rushing yards and all-star runningback Andrew Harris has to be licking his chops. Bo Levi Mitchell and the Stamps' offense will continue to score and they'll need to against a Bombers team that can light it up on both sides of the ball. Betting on the Stamps with that leaky D is scary. Instead, take the Bombers to not just cover but win outright. This should be this week's highest scoring affair and the over 59.0 total is a juicy bet.

The Argonauts got a rude awakening courtesy of the BC Lions after the wheels on their defense came off in the fourth. The Argos' defense has proven more formidable than expected and they'll look to make life hard for Trevor Harris and the Redblacks' offense, who have carved up the Stampeders. While the Redblacks showed guts in pushing the Stamps to their breaking point, their secondary looked like a hot mess and Ricky Ray will be putting on a show at the expense of the home team. Saskatchewan lost their home opener in heart-breaking fashion and are 0-2 but could've easily been 2-0 had a few possessions gone their way. The good news is, the Tiger-Cats looked much worse in their only game as they got thoroughly outplayed by the Argonauts. The combination of the Tiger-Cats' porous offensive line and the Roughriders' beastly defensive line means all quarterback Kevin Glenn has to do is take care of the ball and make a few plays and the green-and-white should ride home with their first win of the season.
