    Major League Baseball 2019

Depending on where you live, you may be digging your way out of a giant ball of ice just to start your car today.

But believe me when I say MLB Spring training is just around the corner. So let's dive in on MLB futures, and who will win the 2019 World Series

    2019 Major League Baseball preview

Now before we get to who could actually win the whole shebang let's talk about dingers.

    Home run Champion

    (ODDS PROVIDED BY WILLIAM HILL)

Last season's Home Run King, was the relatively anonymous Khris Davis of the Oakland Athletics, who at +1200 looks to be a good value play. Having hit at least 42 home runs, and played at least 150 games, in 3 straight seasons, Davis has shown the consistent power over the last few seasons to be relied upon.

However the last repeat Champion in this category was Jose Bautista all the way back in 2010 and 2011. So it's not something that's commonly achieved.

The favorites in this category at both Bronx Bombers Giancarlo Stanton +700 and Aaron Judge +900 and whilst both of them have the potential to hit 60 in those manageable Yankee Stadium dimensions, both players also have some factors that play against them.

Stanton in 9 MLB seasons has only played 150+ games in 3 of them. Judge, who is in the infancy of his career, missed a couple months last season due to injury as well. They are both prototypical power hitters playing in a stadium and division perfectly suited to their strengths, but when you gamble on them, you're also gambling on health.

    MLB Division Winners

    (ODDS PROVIDED BY WILLIAM HILL)

So much like any futures bet, this needs to be judged based on equal parts performance and value. Here's who jumps out to me so far:

BOSTON RED SOX TO WIN AL EAST (+105): The defending World Series Champions who play in a city that wins everything and doesn't let up. And you're giving me more than even money? Yes please.

CHICAGO CUBS TO WIN NL CENTRAL (+180): So the Cubs broke their curse and won their World Series a couple seasons ago, and understandably have been living on house money since. But that wears off quicker than you think. Theo Epstein, supposedly the smartest GM in baseball will want to return to glory and winning the loaded NL Central will be priority number 1.

COLORADO ROCKIES TO WIN NL WEST (+320): This play is as much belief in the Rockies as it is belief that after two consecutive seasons of heartbreaking World Series defeats that the Los Angeles Dodgers will regress. The City of Angels now belong to Lebron James and the Dodgers are no longer the story on page 1. This may be the year they become almost rans.

      WORLD SERIES 2019 WINNER

      (ODDS PROVIDED BY BET365)

The big three teams in the American League, the Yankees, Red Sox and Astros are all at the top of board to become the World Series Winners at +600. Coming in just below them at +700 are the Dodgers. However, being that I root for the little guy, I'm going to go out on a limb and offer up a pair of small market teams that I think, can make a run at the World Series: The Cleveland Indians +1400 and the Colorado Rockies +1800

The Cleveland Indians have arguably been the most consistent team in the American League over the past 5 seasons, and are due to make a deep run in the postseason. In terms of hitting, pitching, fielding and managerial nous, they check all the boxes. Furthermore, they may now also have star power in baseball's next great player, Jose Ramirez who will now settle at third base for the Tribe. In Ramirez, the Indians have a gem, who does everything well; hits for power and average, top 5 in WAR amongst batters, and is statistically the best base runner in the game. He could be the one piece they've been searching for that takes them over the top.

The Colorado Rockies have quietly assembled one of the best rosters in baseball, led by perennial MVP Candidate third baseman Nolan Arenado. Last season, the start ups took the Dodgers all the way down to the wire and fell short of winning the NL West by 1 game. They lost in the divisional round of the playoffs to the Brewers, but like the Tribe, are poised to be a really good team this season. With several proven pieces and young breakout stars on the cusp this might be the year they no longer remain a quiet little secret.
