2019 MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby Odds

2019 MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby Odds
The boys of summer are here for the 2019 MLB all star game. On Monday July 8, the 2019 home run derby will take place before baseball's all stars light up Progressive field on Tuesday July 9th. And we have selections for both events with a very heavy lean for the mid summer classic.

All Star game betting odds for MLB are available on all major sites. The current odds are as follows:

  • National League (-125)
  • American League (+150)

On Monday Night the MLB All Star festivities get under way with the Home Run Derby.

MLB All Star game prop bets just took a slight course correction over the past few hours as Brewers right fielder, Christian Yelich, the MLB Home Run Leader through the first half of the season with 31, will skip the Home Run Derby with a back injury. Here ar the updated odds via William Hill

2019 Home Run Derby Odds

  • Josh Bell +333
  • Pete Alonso +350
  • Vlad Guerrero Jr. +350
  • Matt Chapman +700
  • Joc Pederson +800
  • Carlos Santana +900
  • Alex Bregman +1000
  • Ronald Acuna Jr. +1200

A couple names fly off the page to me here, one a favorite, and the other, a big value dark horse. But first let’s examine the ballpark itself. The home of the Cleveland Indians, Progressive Fields left field porch with it’s 19 foot wall and 325 foot distance is where most of the Home runs get hit in that ball park.

The right field porch shares the same 325 foot dimension and straight away centre measures at 410. The left centre porch is 370 feet and the right centre porch is 375.

Vlad Guerrero Jr, Toronto Blue Jay and number 1 prospect in baseball has a real opportunity for a coming out party here and has been practicing for this event. With power to all fields, he can knock it out of anywhere in this ball park BUT that wall in left field is so easily in his reach.

His Father won this event in 2007 and therefore this may very well be his rite of passage into stardom. He will put on a show Monday night.

And speaking of right handers who like to hit the ball out at left field, Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman competed in this event last year, so will have learned from his experience. Furthermore 20 of his 23 home runs this season have been to left/ left centrefield which is the type of swing that succeeds in this ball park.

Overall in the history of the All Star Game, the AL leads the NL by the narrowest margin of 44-43 victories, however, the American League has dominated this “exhibition” as of late winning in six straight years.

But this will be the season the National League turns the tide. The National League is just better this season as a whole. Here are a few things to consider:

  • 4 of the top 5 batters in terms of average are National League hitters.
  • the top 6 RBI leaders in baseball are all in the National League
  • 7 of the top 8 leaders in OPS (on base + slugging percentage) are in the National League
  • 8 of the top 10 home run hitters are in the National League
  • the top 3 ERAs in Major League Baseball are held by National League pitchers
  • 6 starting pitchers have a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) under 1.00, and 4 of them are in the National League
  • The National League has the best closer thus far in 2019 Kirby Yates, who has secured 30 of 31 save opportunities this season with a WHIP of 0.79.

MLB All Star game betting odds, basically lists this game as even money but on paper, this isn’t even close. The National League just has too many weapons for the American League and having lost six straight years, eventually pride takes over and revenge will be a heavy motivating factor for those invloved on behalf of their league.

PICK: National League (-105) on BODOG
