NFL Point Spread: Vikings at Eagles 2018 NFC Championship Game

NFL Point Spread: Vikings at Eagles 2018 NFC Championship Game

    My Team's Next MatchMinnesota Vikings

This matchup is pretty hysterical if you’re a Rams fan. These two guys were battling for the QB job in St Louis. Both of these guys have seen a lot of adversity in their careers, and bouncing from one team to another, and back to the same team. Both men were drafted late in 2012. Foles was the 88th pick in the 3rd round, while Keenum went undrafted. But here they both are. Neither team’s plan A, but both team’s driving force to get to the Super Bowl.

Sorry Eagles fans. I can’t see your team advancing any further. You’ve overachieved and you know it. Of course, the same could be said for the Vikings. In fact, the Vikings were a missed tackle away from not being here this weekend. But, the tackle was missed, history was made and the league’s most punishing defense is a game away from the Super Bowl, going against a QB throwing in his third ever playoff game. For all of these reasons and more, I just cannot get behind a win for the Eagles. They have been on borrowed time and it’s time to pay up. I’m backing the Vikings on this one.

Prediction: The Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Sports Interaction

The Viking D ruled the regular season. Minnesota held teams to 15.8 points per game, the only team holding opponents under 16, and the lowest average in the NFL. They also held teams to the fewest total yards at 275.9 per night, and the second-fewest passing yards, at 192.4. Their secondary also forced more interceptions (14) than they surrendered touchdowns in the air.

They also held the high-powered Saints to 24 points last weekend. The also picked off Drew Brees twice and controlled the run all game. The D was led by Manti Te'o, who had 10 combined tackles, with a sack.

Meanwhile, the Eagles D has given up only 26 points in their last 3 games. This includes shutting Matt Ryan and the defending NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons down. Ryan was 22/36, but only threw one touchdown, and his team was completely strangled in the second half of the game. He was also sacked 3 times. This was a stellar defense during the regular season. Philly heald teams to 281 total yards per game (good enough for third in the NFL) and 195 passing yards (also third), and a mere 85 yards per game on the ground (5th). So yeah. They’re pretty good.

This is going to be a low scoring game, given the power of both of these teams’ defensive units, and the inexperience of both starting QBs. Special teams will be absolutely massive. Any and all bonus yards or points you can put up on the board with your special teams today will take a lot of pressure off your offense. Running back a kickoff or punt could literally decide the game today.
