UFC 253 comes packed with fireworks from both inside the octagon and the betting lines as middleweight king Israel Adesanya settles his grudge with the unbeaten destroyer, Paulo Costa. Both fighters are explosive strikers and with ill will all but guaranteeing heated exchanges. Co-headlining are red-hot fighters Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz facing off for the vacant light heavyweight title. Let's break down these fights and see which bets we can cash.
UFC 234 Odds
In the latest UFC news, no one has tested positive for any banned substance and we won't have to learn any big words like metabolites or picogram. We can focus only on the sport itself and of course our sport, online betting.
So this Saturday February 9th at 10pm EST the UFC goes live from Melbourne Australia, which based on their timezone means it's April or May there right now - not quite sure how the international date line works...
Anyways, let's talk about some fights.
UFC 234: Odds and Predictions
In the co main event we have the most spectacular performers in MMA History taking on a young man who looks to be the heir to the throne.
Israel "The Last Stylebender" Adesanya vs Anderson "Spider" Silva
If you're nostalgic for the days of Anderson Silva (34-8-0) winning, I'd consult his career highlight reel. Silva's only won 1 of his last 6 fights and is a shell of the man who used to cut through the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions like a katana.
Speaking of deadly weapons, the Last Stylebender has many in his arsenal and will be looking to win emphatically to potentially set up the next big blockbuster on the UFC schedule. There are mumblings that he will call out Jon Jones in the post fight interview.
The only play here is Adesanya (15-0-0). But when any fighter is such a huge favorite one has to look for ways to extract value. Fortunately our friends at
Robert "The Reaper" Whittaker vs Kelvin Gastelum
I remember watching The Ultimate Fighter season that Kelvin Gastelum (15-3-0) won and it was shocking to me to find out that he is only 27, as it feels like it was 15 years ago. My thoughts on him are the same now as they were then. He can beat anyone on his day but nothing stands out about him as a mixed martial artist. His career arch feels like that more of a gatekeeper than a Champion.
Robert Whittaker (20-4-0), a Kiwi, who will be fighting down under on essentially home soil, does possess the elite striking ability that suggests he is a deserved Champion. Furthermore his standing and takedown defense is quietly becoming something to behold. Having won 9 consecutive bouts including winning and defending the middleweight championship is the sign that Whittaker is on the road to becoming an all time UFC. The ability to hit and avoid damage makes it hard seeing Gastelum last 25 minutes.
Though Gastelum has never been stopped before, there comes a first time for everything.
PICK: Whittaker by KO/TKO/DQ or Submission (+125) on BET365
