Kamaru Usman will shut Colby Covington up while retaining his welterweight strap while featherweight champion Max Holloway should dispatch Alex Volkanovski with no issues. And finally, Amanda Nunes continues her legendary run by beating Germaine De Randamie, again.

Let’s break down the UFC 245 odds.

UFC 245 Odds: Championship Bout Breakdowns

Kamaru Usman (c) vs Colby Covington

Usman and Covington finally get it on after years of build-up. The champion is undefeated in the UFC (10-0) and dominated Tyron Woodley to capture the belt. He has looked unbeatable and outside Khabib Nurmagomedov, he is the UFC’s most dominant wrestler.

Covington is also a prolific wrestler and has improved his overall skillset as he showed when he put a beating on former champion Robbie Lawler. His fighting prowess is overshadowed by his braggadocio persona, but no one is underestimating him.

Like Usman showed against the likes of Woodley and Maia, he can dominate even the UFC’s best grapplers. Covington shouldn’t be an exception. This will be Usman’s toughest challenge, but one he’ll still beat as he edges Covington on the scorecards.

Pick: Usman by Decision

Max Holloway (c) vs Alex Volkanovski

Holloway and Volkanovski are like night and day with their physique: the champ is tall and lanky and looks more like a lightweight while Volkanovski could be an overblown bantamweight.

Unbeaten since 2013, Holloway has constantly grown as a fighter and at 28, he’s at the peak of his career. He utilizes versatile striking to outstrike his opponents while also employing underrated grappling and takedown defense.

Volkanovski has a varied skillset but is a topnotch striker. He has a 71-inch reach, which is even longer than Holloway’s, and combined with his trunky physique gives him a tough-to-beat combo.

This fight should stay on its feet, which is why Holloway gets off with a decision here. His iron chin, endurance, and in-fight adjustments give him an edge over Volkanovski.

Pick: Holloway by Decision

Amanda Nunes (c) vs Germaine De Randamie

In their first bout, Nunes TKO’d De Randamie by mounting her on the ground until the ref stopped the fight. This fight shouldn’t be much different. Both fighters have improved since this bout, especially Nunes. But De Randamie’s lack of grappling will do her in.

Nunes is smart and won’t engage De Randamie unnecessarily. There is a solid chance for De Randamie to catch her and hurt her. Instead, Nunes will use her grappling to neuter De Randamie. At some point, she’ll tie her up and either submit her or TKO her by ground-and-pound.

Pick: Nunes by Stoppage
