Who will win the 2018 Baseball World Series?
The Dodgers and Red Sox will be meeting in the World Series for the first time in 102 years. With two big name franchises in large markets, one would expect the ratings to be through the roof and MLB should be thrilled with this matchup.
Let’s take a look at the odds for the World Series via BODOG:
Los Angeles Dodgers +115 and Boston Red Sox -145.
Let’s look at the tale of the tape for these 2 historic organizations heading into the first pitch this Tuesday October 23rd, at 8pm EST.
Boston Red Sox: The best team in Baseball
The Boston Red Sox have made this season look easy, coasting to the best regular season record at 108-54, and having the 2nd best run differential in baseball. And if that was not impressive enough they may have topped that by going 5-0 on the road this post season eliminating the Yankees in Yankee Stadium and winning three straight games in Minute Maid Park to oust the Houston Astros, no easy feat indeed, as they had the best run differential in baseball this season.
The Red Sox have the best lineup top to bottom in all of Major League Baseball and they have not slowed down. On the mound they will be waiting to see what they will be able to get out of the Ace of their pitching staff, Chris Sale who was hospitalized during the ALCS with an illness last week. The good news for the Red Sox, is that David Price may have found himself again pitching a gem in game 5 of the ALCS, with his fastball velocity reaching the mid 90s MPH.
Los Angeles Dodgers: Redemption
Last season the Los Angeles Dodgers rampaged through the regular and post season only to make it to the World Series and have to watch the Houston Astros celebrate on their field. A bitter pill to swallow and they will want to make things right this year.
Manager Dave Roberts, who was a key piece in the Red Sox team that broke their World Series drought, will be looking to help bring another marquee franchise back to prominence. With a balanced line up and strong pitching staff, the Dodgers have all the tools to redeem last year’s shortcomings.
I think the Red Sox win this series easily. Everyone counted them out against two teams that were better than the Dodgers. They beat the Yankees and Astros comprehensively, because simply put this lineup is too good to stop. They make great pitching look average and they slaughter good to average pitching. The Dodgers will simply not be able top score enough runs over the course of a seven games series to threathen the Red Sox, even if their pitching has question marks. And if Sale returns and is even 80% of how good he would normally be and David Price can pitch 1 game like he did in game 5 against the Astros, this series will be a walk for the Sox.
PICK: BOSTON RED SOX (-145)
