2014 NHL Stadium Series Finale Pits Penguins vs Blackhawks
Defending Champs are in a torrid Wild West race
With the Sochi Olympics complete, the NHL playoff races are on and Chicago is in two battles. The Hawks are tied with St. Louis in the Central division and they’re in a tight race with the Blues, Sharks and Ducks for top spot in the Western Conference. Chicago (35-12-14) faced a tough run prior to the Olympics as they lost six of nine games. The Hawks first game back from the break was a 2-1 loss to the NY Rangers on Thursday.
Sidney Crosby & Crew continue to own the East despite key injuries
Losing a 2013 Norris Trophy finalist (Kris Letang) the right winger on your top-line (Pascal Dupuis) and a solid stay-at-home D-Man (Paul Martian) would doom most NHL teams. Pittsburgh (40-15-4) however is not “most teams” as they are deep across their lineup and in their farm system. Sid & Co. entered the Olympic break on an 11-5 run but returned to action with a 6-5 OT home loss on Thursday against the Montreal Canadians.
