Yankees Tab David Phelps to Face Hot O's Saturday Afternoon
Phelps is looking for his fourth win of the season and the second of his career against the Orioles. The Yankees are hoping that Phelps, who has helped them in the rotation this season, can stop the Orioles offense from scoring early and often today. New York is still without slugging first baseman Mark Teixeira, who is nursing a strained left calf. He is not expected back until the Yankees visit Baltimore next weekend.
Orioles Try to Pull Within One Game of Yankees in AL East Saturday
Baltimore sends Wei-Yin Chen to the hill to try and tame the Yankee bats for a second straight day. Chen is 12-7 this season with a 3.78 ERA. During the month of August, Chen would throw a stellar game one day and then throw a clunker the next time on the mound. The Orioles are hoping that this trend does not continue into August because when he last took the mound, Chen threw six innings of one-run baseball. So, if the pattern remains the same, he is due for another bad outing. New York looks to be the best bet out of all the games on today's MLB schedule as the Yankees look to knock the Orioles back to three games out in the AL East.
