Broncos and Patriots: Super Bowl XLIX Top Chalk at SportsInteraction
Broncos bulk up defense following SB XLVIII blowout
While QB Peyton Manning and the offense, particularly the Broncos O-Line, have to take the majority of the blame for the blowout loss in Super Bowl XLVIII, the defense didn’t do much to stop the Seahawks as they made QB Russel Wilson look like Joe Montana en route to his SB MVP award. Denver hopes they addressed their defensive issues with the addition of S T.J. Ward, CB Aqib Talib and prized free agent, DE DeMarcus Ware. With Von Miller and Ware on the ends – Denver now has one of the fiercest pass-rush duos in the NFL. That has to be part of the reason why Denver is your new top chalk to win the 2015 NFL Championship.
Patriots have also done some retooling during the NFL off-season
Though they never have to entirely “blow up” their team, New England never stands pat during the off-season. That was the case again this year as the Patriots made one of the bigger free agent splashes when they signed cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner along with safety Patrick Chung. The loss of RB LeGarrette Blount skews the Patriots backfield again as fumble prone Stevan Ridley is the lead runner while Shane Vereen will continue to play the Swiss Army Knife roll. Rookie RB James White is waiting in the wings should Ridley continue to cough up the ball. TE Rob Gronkowski staying healthy is a big key in New England.
