Calgary vs Hamilton: 2014 Grey Cup Rematch Highlights Week 1 CFL Action
Calgary Stampeders: Aimi for back-to-back Grey Cup titles
Repeating as Grey Cup Champions has not been an easy task in the CFL recently. Dating back to the title game in 1997, the Montreal Alouettes (2009-10) are the only team to win consecutive CFL Championships. Despite the loss of a few key players, the Stampeders are the once again the class of the CFL as they are the odds on favorite to repeat as Champs. Calgary won all three games last year by a 60-43 margin and the Stamps are 9-1 during their last ten meetings with the Cats.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats: Open their quest for a third straight Grey Cup appearance
Twice the Bridesmaid – never the Bride. That’s been the recent mantra in Hamilton as the Tiger-Cats have played in and lost the last two Grey Cup contests. In fact, Hamilton has not claimed a CFL Championship since they defeated the Stamps 32-21 in the 87th Grey Cup match way back in 1999. Playing in what is forecast to be a very weak division again this year, the Tiger-Cats are chalk to win the CFL East but they are the fifth overall favorite to win the Grey Cup with +650 odds.
Hamilton vs Calgary CFL Week One Prediction: Being as they are the deepest team in the CFL, that’s guided by the best coaching staff in the league, the offseason player loses appear to be replenished in Calgary. The same can’t be said for the Tiger-Cats as their stellar 2014 defensive unit took some hits with the loss of Brian Bulcke and Lindon Gaydosh on the defensive line and DB Delvin Breaux in the secondary. Easing into the 2015 CFL season, we are backing Calgary with a 500 unit wager on the Stampeders money line price posted at William Hill.
