St. Louis Cardinals: Looking to regain winning ways
Following a solid run, that moved them into a first place tie with Milwaukee in the NL Central, St. Louis has hit a mini slump. After posting a 12-4 record heading into and out of the All- Star break, the Cardinals have lost three straight contests and now sit three games behind the Brewers. RHP Joe Kelly (2-1 ERA 284) is making his third straight start after a lengthy stint on the disabled list. Kelly is coming off an impressive seven inning outing as he allowed one run on four hits in a 4-2 Red Birds win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
Chicago Cubs: On their way to yet another losing MLB season
Sitting with a 41-59 record, the second worst mark in MLB, Chicago is on their way to a fifth straight losing season. The Cubs are looking to the future as they just unloaded their top two pitchers, Jason Hammel and Jeff Samardzija, to the Oakland Athletics. Since making that deal, Chicago has posted a 3-13 record, they have lost seven of their last eight games, and they have scored the third fewest runs (807) in the Majors.
