CFL Week 1: Tiger-Cats vs Roughriders Grey Cup Grudge Match
Mass exodus has Darian Durant lonely on the Prairies
Party time ended pretty quickly after Saskatchewan captured their their fourth Grey Cup Championship in franchise history last November. That's because they lost a wealth of talent to free agency and the National Football League. QB Darian Durant is probably wondering why the train left the station without him as key cogs, such as RB Kory Sheets, SB Weston Dressler and SB Geroy Simon, are no longer part of the 'Riders big green machine. The good news is the fact that best offensive line in the CFL has returned intact as have rock solid receivers Chris Getzlaf and Taj Smith. Not expecting another blowout - we like Gang Green here.
Ex-Argo quarterback Zach Collaros takes the reigns for the Tiger-Cats
After being their big name acquisition prior to the 2013 CFL season, and after he put up monster numbers but failed to lead Hamilton to a Grey Cup win, QB Henry Burris as left the building. Smilin' Hank is now the Ottawa Redblacks field general as ex-Argo QB Zach Collaros has earned the starting pivot job in Steeltown. Collaros gets this opportunity largely because of his seven impressive starts while filling in for injured QB Ricky Ray in Toronto last season. While we feel the Tiger-Cats offense should still be decent without Burris - we don't see much improvement in the leaky Hamilton defense that the Roughriders ran roughshod over last November.
