Hawks are soaring after early season stumbles
Following a 7-6-1 start to their season, Chicago is white hot as they have won nine of their last eleven games. The Hawks are playing with a nice mix of defense and offense as their nine recent wins have been by a 40-15 margin. Chicago hasn't been feasting on cellar dwellers either as they just posted three straight 4-1 wins over Anaheim, Los Angeles and St. Louis - all top Western Conference clubs. Chicago is just four points out of the top spot in the West and they have games in hand on the conference co-leading Canucks and Ducks.
Montreal is trying to maneuver out of a recent losing streak
Since owning the top spot in the Eastern Conference on November 22, by three points over Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, Montreal has fallen on some tough times. The Canadiens are on a 1-3-1 recent run and have tumbled into fourth overall in the East. Montreal gets a pass on their 2-1 loss in Minnesota on Wednesday night as they were playing with heavy hearts following the passing of long time Habs Captain and one of the greatest hockey players in NHL history - Jean Béliveau. The hockey world has lost an amazing man.
NHL Friday Night Prediction: Chicago crushed the Canadiens 5-0 in Montreal back on November 4 so the Habs will be looking for some revenge here.
