Detroit vs Kansas City: Tumbling Tigers Visit AL Central Division Leading Royals
Kansas City Royals: In MLB playoff race cruise control territory
Looking for back-to-back MLB American League Pennants, Kansas City is steamrolling towards a playoff berth. The Royals (66-44) own an 11.5 game lead on Minnesota in the AL Central and a five game lead on New York for top spot overall in the American League. Somewhat streaky, at 14-10 since the All-Star break, Kansas City swept the Chicago White Sox over the weekend as they posted three one-run victories. Chances are good that KC clinches the AL Central before September.
Detroit Tigers: 2015 Major League Baseball season meltdown is nearing its completion
Though not the overwhelming favorites they’ve been over the past few seasons, Detroit was still forecast to be a playoff contender this season. Sitting with a 54-57 record, the Tigers trail the Royals by 12.5 games in the AL Central and the Kittens are 5.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race. Pitching has been the achilles heel in the Motor City as the Tigers are sporting a dismall 4.48 team EAR – the 26th worst mark in the Majors. Gutted at the trade deadline – the Tigers are toast.
Royals vs Tigers MLB Game Day Call: Both teams send a MLB trade deadline acquisition to the hill in this contest as RHP Johnny Cueto (7-7 ERA 2.69) faces LHP Matt Boyd (1-2 ERA 7.90). Cueto has given up five runs over 13 innings in two starts since arriving in the Show Me State from Cincinnati. Boyd won his Tigers debut as he gave up one run over seven innings when Detroit beat KC 2-1 last Wednesday. Cueto will be looking for a measure of revenge as he took the loss in that contest. Roll with Royals and 500 unit wager on the money line price posted on the betting board at William Hill.
