Aiming to match their longest home-game winning streak since 2008, Pittsburgh (52-46) sends RHP Edinson Volquez (8-6 ERA 3.65) to the hill looking for a seventh straight win at PNC Park. Volquez has allowed just 20 runs over his last 61.1 innings pitched and eight of those came during an 11-4 loss to Cincinnati. Righting the ship, Volquez has allowed just three runs over 30 innings and the Pirates have won all of his last four starts.
Los Angeles Dodgers: Steel City bound minus a couple of key sticks
Hitting and scoring have been a problem for Los Angeles recently as the Dodgers are sporting a .213 batting average and have plated just 16 runs over their last eight games. To make matters worse, Hanley Ramirez (.273 AVG) and Yasiel Puig (.308 AVG) were seriously plunked by pitches over the weekend and neither is expected to start tonight. Those two have a combined 101 RBI on the season and they are tough gaps to fill.
