Eagles vs Lions: NFC Playoff Contenders Clash in Philadelphia
Detroit Lions: NFC North Championship contenders
Despite the sluggish economy in Michigan, the good times are roiling at Ford Field. That's because the Detroit Lions are coming off of a 40-10 pounding of the Green Bay Packers during Thanksgiving Day Week 13 NFL action. The Lions are also in the running to capture their first ever NFC North Championship. Currently sitting with a 7-5 record, Detroit has been piling on the points as they are averaging 27 points per game during NFL 2103 action. The defense (allowing 24 PPG) is also coming on strong. A win over the Eagles, coupled with a Chicago loss to Dallas, would mean that the Lions will need just one more win to secure the NFC North title.
Philadelphia Eagles: Four straight wins has Philly back in contention
Left for dead, after they opened the season with a 1-3 record, Philadelphia (7-5) is now tied with the Dallas Cowboys for first overall in the NFC East. In their first four games the Eagles were outscored by a 138-99 combined count that included a 52-20 Week 4 blowout loss to the Broncos. The revival in Philly started when QB Nick Foles took over as the starter in Week 9 as the Eagles have won four straight games by a 124-70 total count. With Foles (19 TD) battling Lions QB Matthew Stafford (27 TD) this could be a high scoring affair. However, with sleet in the forecast, we like the UNDER 54 points posted at the William Hill online sportsbook.
