Brazil & Germany: World Cup history on both sides
As sure as rain is wet, when it comes to the World Cup, Brazil or Germany being in the final match is almost a given. Between them, these clubs have made it to the finals in 14 of the 19 World Cup tournaments played to date. Both countries have advanced to seven final contests - which is a shared record. Brazil has five titles and last won it all in 2002 while Germany has three Cups but have not been World Champions since 1990.
Without Neymar Brazilians need to come together as a team unit
Based on a lot of opinions - the terrible back injury suffered by Neymar is either a total loss for Brazil or it will inspire the rest of his Brazilian teammates to step up some as they enter this epic semifinal showdown. If this was Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers being kept out of the NFC Final in the NFL - we would certainly write off the Packers. However soccer is much more of a team game so we don't expect the Auriverde to totally tank here. There is some added concern though as Brazil's Captain Thiago Silva lost the appeal of his one game suspension (for receiving two yellow cards) and will have to sit this one out. We have to back Germany here.
