Kansas City vs Baltimore: Royals Aim for ALCS Stranglehold Over Orioles

KC Cardiac Kids amazing MLB 2014 journey continues

Amazing playoff performances, that perpetuate magical regular season runs, have been a part of sports lore since the beginning of time. Kansas City is writing another chapter in the history books as they are looking to advance to the World Series for the first time since 1985 - the year they won their only MLB Championship. After surviving the short porches at Camden Yards, the Royals return to spacious Kaufman Field with a 2-0 ALCS led over Baltimore. On a 12-2 recent run, including six straight playoff wins, KC shocked the Orioles with 8-6 and 6-4 wins in Maryland as they settle in for three home games in the Show Me State. It will be two games if the Cardiac Kids move to 8-0 during the MLB postseason. RHP Jeremy Guthrie get the call for KC.

Royals replaced small ball with long ball in bashing of Baltimore

After hitting an MLB worst 95 home runs during the regular season, while leading the league with 153 stolen bases, Kansas City has hit four big flies and swiped just one base during the first two games of the ALCS. On the other side of the coin, Baltimore has just one home run in the first two games of this series - after they led the Majors with 211 round trippers during the regular season. Following two straight home loses, the Orioles move to a "one game at a time" mode but they have to be considerably demoralized. The O's can take some solace in the fact that KC was 47-34 on the road but just 42-39 at home during the regular season. LHP Wei-Yin Chen (five runs over 3 2/3 innings during the ALDS versus the Tigers) heads to the bump for Baltimore.

MLB 2014 ALCS Alternate Handicapping Prediction: Teams that have their backs to the wall in a near "must win" situation can be very dangerous - as is the case with Baltimore tonight. Being as such, and because we aren't impressed by either of the pitchers, we turn to Alternate Handicaps that are posted on the William Hill betting board. Given how deep and talented their bullpen is - we are very comfortable taking the +2.5 runs and wagering 1000 units on Kansas City to cover versus Baltimore in Game 3 of the ALCS.

EDITORS NOTE: ALCS Game 3 was postponed due to weather. We have rolled our wager over to the game tonight. We actually get a better price (-300 rather than -333) for the rescheduled game on 14/10/14.
