Columbus is on an NHL playoff push – pipe dream or not
Buried in the basement like an old stack of newspapers for most of the first half of the 2014-15 NHL season, we are still viewing the Blue Jackets as a buy low game day commodity until further notice. Sitting 13 points behind Boston for the final Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference, and still having to pass four other squads, Columbus will be in playoff mode until they are inevitably eliminated at some point in February. We advise against totally dismissing them until that time.
Winnipeg Jets: Playing like postseason contenders in the tough Western Conference
Now in their fourth season in Winnipeg, the Jets are looking for their first playoff appearance since moving to the Slurpee Capital of the World. The Jets have been soaring in the New Year as they are on a 6-2-1 run in January. Those numbers, coupled with recent stumbles by the defending Cup Champion Kings, has Winnipeg in seventh overall in the Western Conference – five points ahead of Calgary and six ahead of Los Angeles. The playoff race in the West is going to be amazing.
