Los Angeles vs Atlanta: Dodgers Aim To Sweep The Braves
Los Angeles: Top team in National League playoff race
Though it may be by mere percentage points, thanks to their 3-2 win in 10 innings over Atlanta last night, Los Angeles now sports the best record in the National League. Sitting with a 61-47 overall record, the Dodgers send the best pitcher in baseball to the hill tonight as Clayton Kershaw aims for his tenth straight win. Simply put, the numbers are staggering as Kershaw is 9-0 with one no decision (a 4-3 Dodgers win over St. Louis) in his last ten starts. During his magical run, the Krushinator has allowed eight runs on 40 hits over 77 innings pitched and he has struck out 95 hitters while allowing just eight walks. It's not wise to bet against Kershaw.
Atlanta Braves: Looking to even their post All-Star Game record
With a 58-50 record, Atlanta has gone 6-7 since the All-Star break and sit 1.5 games behind Washington for top spot in the National League East. The Braves are somewhat of an enigma as they sit in the bottom half of all major offensive categories - including 24th overall with just 414 runs scored. RHP Julio Teheran (10-6 ERA 2.71) is charged with helping the Braves avoid the sweep at Chavez Ravine tonight. Teheran was fairly solid in last outing, a 5-3 Braves win over the lowly San Diego Padres, as he went six innings and gave up three runs on nine hits.
