It's playoff time in the National Hockey league and few teams can match the push that Los Angeles has made at this time of the year over the last five seasons or so. The Kings have been on fire as they have wins in 12 of 15 contests since the NHL returned from the Olympic break. With eight games left on their schedule, Los Angeles will be fine tuning down the stretch as they are comfortably in control of the #6 seed in the West. An opening round playoff match-up against San Jose or Anaheim is looming large on the horizon in SoCal.
Winnipeg Jets face a steep uphill climb to an NHL playoff postion
A gutsy recent run, Winnipeg has earned at least one point in 18 of their last 27 games, now appears to be too little - too late for the Jets as they trail Phoenix by nine points for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. To their credit, Winnipeg is still battling hard as they knocked off a solid Sharks squad 4-3 in San Jose on Thursday night.
