Nationals: Out to prove 2013 MLB season was a fluke
Although the 2013 Major League Baseball campaign was a largely disappointing one, the expectations for the 2014 season are still high in the District. Early on the Nationals have been a strong play this season as they have jumped out of the gate to a 5-2 start. Washington opened the season with a road sweep of the Mets, but then dropped their first two home games to Atlanta before avoiding a sweep with a 2-1 win on Sunday. After a day off on Monday, the Nats made it two wins in a row as they shutout the Marlins 5-0 last night.
Miami Marlins: Surprise strong start gives way to back-to-back loses
After opening the season with a surprising 5-1 record, and pounding their opponents by a 35-11 count, Miami has been brought back to reality as they have lost two straight contests. This is the Marlins first road trip of the year as they won season opening series (both 2-1) over Colorado and San Diego at home in Florida. LHP Brad Hand makes an emergency start out of the bullpen as Marlins scheduled starter Jacob Turner is out due to injury. Hand faces one of the best in the business as RHP Jordan Zimmerman starts for the Nationals.
