Columbus vs New York: Blue Jackets and Rangers NHL Metropolitan Division Call

Columbus vs New York: Blue Jackets and Rangers NHL Metropolitan Division Call
Taking a break from the early season NFL action and the MLB postseason races, we check in on National Hockey League for the first time this season. The New York Rangers vs Columbus Blue Jackets contest has caught our eye on the NHL betting board. The Rangers are playing their second game of the young season, both on the road, while this the home opener and first game for the Blue Jackets. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM ET on October 9, 2015, at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. We are backing the Blueshirts here.

New York Rangers: Aiming to defend Presidents Cup title

Metropolitan Division Champions two of the past four years, New York is once again a top favorite in the Eastern Conference. The Rangers won the Presidents Cup trophy as they posted a NHL best 53-22-7 record last season but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning by a 4-3 count in a thrilling Eastern Conference Final playoff series. New York opened their 2015-16 campaign with a 3-2 win over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackshawks on Wednesday night. New York posted a 3-1 first period lead and then goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 21 of 22 shots over the final two frames as the Rangers played a near perfect road game in Chicago. New York is a stacked NHL squad.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Look to return to the NHL playoffs following a difficult season

Following just the second playoff appearance in their 15-year history, during the 2013-14 NHL season, Columbus took a step backwards last year as they finished with a 42-35-5 record and fifth overall in the Metropolitan Division. Prior to a 5-2 win over these same Rangers at the Nationwide Arena last season, the Blue Jackets had lost four straight home openers. Columbus would go on to lose the next three games in their season series against New York – all by one goal and a 10-7 margin. While injuries were a big part of the Blue Jackets slump last season – they are still a ways away from being an elite NHL Stanley Cup contender. Columbus is in tough in this contest tonight.

New York vs Columbus NHL Call: Henrik Lundqvist versus Sergei Bobrovsky is a solid goaltending duel in this contest but we give an edge to the King Henry in that battle. Back-to-back road games for New York isn’t much of a concern tonight as the Rangers enjoyed a day off yesterday. Getting near even money with one of best teams in the NHL is too difficult for us to resist. Give us the Rangers with a 500 unit wager on the money line price posted at the YouWin online sportsbook.
