Saskatchewan vs Edmonton: Possible CFL Playoff Preview
Edmonton aims for playoff home field advantage
While their southern neighbours, the Calgary Stampeders, have already clinched home field advantage and a bye into the CFL Western Final, Edmonton is still looking secure a home date in the playoffs. The Eskimos can move two victories ahead of Saskatchewan with a win today and that would all but lock up a semifinal home game for Edmonton. Alternating wins and loses over the last six weeks, the Eskimos look to snap that trend as they are coming off of a 41-9 whitewash of Winnipeg last week. We like the Green & Gold here.
Riders turn back the clock with 2007 CFL Most Outstanding Player
Signed last week, and coming out of retirement in the process, Saskatchewan turns to QB Kerry Joseph as they look to end a three game losing streak. Joseph, an 11-year CFL veteran who is now 41 years old, led the Roughriders to their 2007 Grey Cup victory. The Green ‘Riders, who have clinched a playoff berth, made this desperate move after young pivots Tino Sunseri and Seth Doege managed just four touchdown passes over their last five games without star QB Darian Durant under center. This contest could get ugly real fast.
CFL Week 17 Prediction: The ‘Riders current three game losing streak began with a 24-0 loss on the road in Edmonton during CFL Week 14 action and we expect that skid will continue today. Seeing Joseph under center will have the Eskimos defense licking their chops as they look to snap a three game road losing streak. We are backing Edmonton with a 500 unit money line wager at the William Hill online sportsbook.
