Los Angeles is not playing well right now, losing its last three games, but is still just one game behind the Cardinals for the second NL Wild Card spot, a team they host starting Thursday night. New acquisition and veteran Josh Beckett will take the mound for the Dodgers, who look to pull into a tie for the second spot in the NL Wild Card race. Beckett has pitched decently since arriving in LA from Boston in August.
Cardinals Need to Find Ways to Win on the Road
St. Louis is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the San Diego Padres and is just 3-7 in its last 10 games played. The Cardinals somehow still hold the second spot in the NL Wild Card but the rest of the league has quickly crept up on them in the standings. Lance Lynn, in his return to the rotation from the bullpen, will take the mound looking for his 15th win of the season in the opener.
