After tossing seven scoreless innings vs Cincinnati in a 1-0 Opening Day win, St. Louis ace Adam Wainright continues to roll as one of the best pitchers in baseball. Wainright (7-2 ERA 1.85) who is looking to become the first eight game winner in the National League, has given up just 15 earned runs and has 65 strikeouts over 73 innings pitched this season. Opponents have scored zero runs in five of his ten starts = domination.
Reds have struggled with consistency early in the MLB 2014 season
Sitting with a 22-25 record, Cincinnati is 5.5 games behind the surprising NL Central leaders Milwaukee and 4 back of the Cardinals. While their 4-9 season start dug them an early hole, an inconsistent 10-10 record in May has kept Cincinnati stalled. RHP Mike Leake (2-3 ERA 2.91) gets the call for the Reds who are 3-6 in his starts this season. Cincinnati hasn't done Leake any favors as they have scored just 13 runs in the six loses.
