Trail Blazers vs Rockets NBA Odds: Hot Meets Cold in Portland

Trail Blazers vs Rockets NBA Odds: Hot Meets Cold in Portland

Portland Trail Blazers: Enjoying a red hot 11-3 recent run

After a disappointing 14-21 slide during the 2015 portion of their 2015-16 NBA schedule, Portland has picked up the pace in the New Year. Although 2016 didn’t start well, the Trail Blazers opened January with a 1-3 record, Portland has been red hot recently. On a 11-3 run the Rip City Crew have moved to within one game of the Utah Jazz for second overall in the NBA Northwest Division. Following a 110-103 home loss to the talented Toronto Raptors, that snapped a five game winning streak, Portland has won two straight as they humbled Houston 96-79 in Texas on Saturday prior to grinding out a 112-106 overtime win over the Grizzlies in Memphis on Monday night.

Houston Rockets: After a hot January start the Lone Star State Crew have cooled some

What a difference a year can make eh? After posting a Western Conference second best 56-26 record last season, Houston has stumbled to a 27-27 mark as we inch closer to the NBA All-Star Weekend. Looking like they may be turning things around, following a sub-par 16-18 season start, the Rockets opened the New Year on a 9-4 roll. The winning ways have fizzled some though as Houston is just 2-5 during their last seven games. The two wins, over Miami (115-102) and Phoenix (11-105) were followed by the above-mentioned blowout loss to Portland and a 123-110 loss to the Golden State Warriors in California last night. The Rockets posted a 108-103 (OT) win at home in November during the first meeting this year. Houston is 5-7 in back-to-back contests this season.

Houston vs Portland NBA Prediction: While there’s not a lot of shame in losing to Golden State, being as the Warriors 47-4 record is a new NBA best start to a season, playing on back-to-back nights with travel puts the Rockets at a disadvantage here. Fresh from a day off, Portland is on a roll at home as they have won seven of their last nine contests at the Moda Center. Blaze a path to the ticket window and back the Trail Blazers with a five-unit bet on the SportsInteraction money line.
