Washington Capitals vs Ottawa Senators NHL Money Line Forecast

Washington Capitals: Cruising as the hottest team in hockey

Rarely stumbling, and usually recovering when they do, Washington looks like the most complete team in the National Hockey League as we near the Christmas break. Sitting with a 21-6-2 record, the Capitals own a two-point lead over the New York Rangers in the Metropolitan Division and they have three games in hand. Washington has also pushed past Montreal to claim the top perch in the Eastern Conference with three less games played. Led by Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nicklas Backstrom, the Capitals fabulous four, that also includes John Carlson and a guy named Alex Ovechkin have posted a combined 103 points this season. Don't sleep on the next five Washington scorers.

Ottawa Senators: Strange season continues in Canada’s Capital for the inconsistent Sens

Slow out of the gate, Ottawa posted a 5-4-2 record in October, the Senators came to life as they went 7-2-3 in November. Middling in December, Ottawa is 4-4-0 so far this month, the Senators are fresh off a 5-3 win over the Pacific Division leading Los Angeles Kings at home on Monday. That contest wasn’t without it’s struggles though as Ottawa was outshot by a 36-21 margin. Ottawa caught Kings stud Jonathan Quick on an off night as he allowed four goals while facing eight shots in the second period. The Sens rank fourth in the NHL, scoring 3.03 goals per game, but their 2.90 GA/G allowed ranks 24th overall. The Senators need to get back to their November consistency.

Senators vs Capitals NHL Call: The Cap have three solid lines and nine players have contributed at least five points to their second ranked power play that’s clicking at 23.4 percent. Ottawa is tied with a group of four teams that have allowed 23 power play goals – the second most in the NHL. Braden Holtby has been a huge cog in the Caps hot running machine. Leading the NHL in wins and goals against average - Holtby (19-4-1 GAA 1.87) has arrived as an elite goalie. In his first action since suffering a concussion on November 12, Andrew 'Hamburglar' Hammond (2-0-2 GAA 2.42) makes his fourth start of the season here – albeit in a fairly tough spot. Expecting a close contest, Washington is 2-0-1 during the last three meetings that were all one-goal games, we are backing the Capitals with a 500 unit wager on the money line price posted at SportsInteraction.
